CELTIC ROSE WRITERS

For Saturday, May 12 I've opened my blog to the talented authors of Celtic Rose Writers.  This may also repeat next Saturday, May 19 as well if we do not get in everyone who would like to post.  In the comments section, they are welcome to leave blurbs, short excerpts and buy links for their many wonderful romance books--contemporary, historical, fantasy, even some Medievals (for which I know we have many readers, including me).  So for anyone who wants to post, browse, look for a good read--have a cup of tea and settle back.  Enjoy!

  1. Dear Celtic Rose Writers,

It's a pleasure to be on Miriam's lovely blogsite. I hope you will visit this coming Tuesday, May 15.  That's the launch day of Erin O'Quinn's newest installment in The Dawn of Ireland called The Wakening Fire. On her blog that day, I do something a bit unusual, and that is to recount a somewhat bawdy tale--one of Ireland's best known legends, but told from the point of view of a woman. I call it "The Tale of the Nether Horn."

I'm one of those fortunate writers whose first work, Storm Maker, has generated a lot of interest. I'm certainly hoping that the next two will be just as popular. In  my own opinion, each book is a little better than the one before. But only you, the readers, can truly decide that.

I'm taking this opportunity to "strut my stuff" today by giving you a brief blurb and a buy link for these first two tales of dark-ages Ireland.

Storm Maker is the story of an immigrant to old world Ireland in the year following St. Patrick's mission. Her name is Caylith, and she has just rejoined the first stranger she encountered on the foreign soil of Éire, a wild and impetuous clansman named Liam O'Neill. She and Liam travel  first to the monastery of St Patrick, and then on to  her new holdings in Derry. All the while, she holds the ardent young man to the vow of chastity she had once made to the saintly Father Patrick. It's hard to say what was more difficult for her--holding back her passions, or rescuing Liam when he is seized by an old enemy of hers. And even when they think they can finally be married, an old suitor comes back to claim her. . . .

Please look for a tanalizing bit of Caylith and Liam's antics on my own blog listed below, along with buy links for the first two in the trilogy.

  2. Thanks, Miriam, for pointing me to your blog. I just love the background image of the Cliffs of Moher. Have spent many wonderful times there.

As you know, I live and work in Ireland. I'm a publisher and I write Irish-set romances.

The first book in my Irish Pride series is called A Piece of My Heart and is set in the heart of Connemara in County Galway . . . about 90 minutes from the Cliffs of Moher, in fact.

Kate and Mick had been childhood sweethears, but an unforeseen force draws them apart. Now, ten years later, Mick's father's will should have been straightforward, except his addendum was like ice water in Mick's face. It's essential that Mick and Kate work together to save his family's heritage.

Mick doesn't count on his new manager being accused of murder, and Kate doesn't expect a dangerously seductive woman from Dublin to claim Mick is the father of her child. Kate thought she was falling in love with Mick all over again; however this newest revelation is too much for her.

Kate is determined to finally say goodbye to her childhood sweetheart forever, but Mick has other plans for Kate's future. And none of them involve goodbye.

A Piece of My Heart was published in 2010 through Highland Press.

The next book in the Irish Pride series is Rhythm of My Heart, the story of Kieran Vaughan, a struggling blues guitarist in Dublin, and Eilis Kennedy, a woman promising to make him famous. Their attraction is so sudden and strong that it sends Eilis running. Kieran won't let her get far; she's 'the one', even if she's too scared to see what they have together. Eilis's boss has other plans for her, and none of them include Kieran or any other man. Playboy, Fergus Manly, will have Eilis's notch on his bedpost if it's the last thing he does.

Rhythm of My Heart will be out this summer, followed by Shape of My Heart following in November.

I have sample chapters up on my website, www.kemberlee.com, if anyone is interested.

I'm also a publisher. We've just launched Tirgearr Publishing (www.tirgearrpublishing.com) this year and so far it seems to have been the right decision. We've landed some incredible talent and are honored these authors have entrusted us with their works.

If I'm not already busy enough, I also run a side business as an editor specializing in Irish-set romances. I work with authors, helping them ensure the authenticity and accuracy of their Irish-set stories. I worked as an Irish travel consultant for many years, have studied Irish history and archaeology, and know a 'cupla focal'. Because not everyone can come to Ireland, I hope some of my knowledge and experience enables writers to write the most accurate stories possible.

Any free time I gets, I'm either blogging or on Facebook. Some of my links include --

  3. Thank you, Erin and Kemberlee! Just looking at your material makes me itch to get on a plane. We will do this again next Saturday as well, and if you want to give us blurbs, short excerpts and buy links for your books that would be great.

  4. Happy to join in, as yesterday was the release day for A Band of Roses, the first in a trilogy of romantic adventures set in an Ireland that might have been. Here's the blurb:

Irish kings still rule the Emerald Isle—and a princess is in trouble...

Ancient Irish traditions remain strong in a world where High King Brian Boru survived the Battle of Clontarf and established a dynasty that rules Ireland to this day. When greed for oil prompts England’s Regent to claim an Irish island in the North Atlantic, Ireland’s Crown Princess Talty becomes a pawn in a murderous plot to seize the throne of England.

From Japan to California to an eleventh century Ireland preparing for the Battle of Clontarf, Talty must hide her true identity, though she can’t hide her ingrained training as a member of the Fianna: the warriors who guard the Kingdom of Ireland. She brings home a discovery worth more than any oil well, yet all she wants is to return to her family and Neil Boru, the adoptive cousin she secretly loves and cannot have—or so she thinks. Neil has a secret of his own, one that emerges as the Boru clan works with MI6 to thwart an invasion of Ireland and bring Talty home.

  5. I just have to wonder, Kemberlee, where you were when I was struggling to find a home for all my Éire-set books? *sigh*

I certainly wish you tremendous luck in all your endeavors.

  7. Erin,

We're here now :-) Drop over and see us sometime. We're at www.facebook.com/tirgearr.publishing if you want to like that page, and the website is www.tirgearrpublishing.com.

    Pat,

Good luck with your Boru story. Miriam pointed me to it, as my book The Diary has a similar premise ;-) Vastly different story though.

  9. Thanks for doing this Miriam!

Highland Legacy is the first book of my Highland series. An Amazon best seller for historical romance in Jan and Feb 2012, I was both thrilled and humbled by the response.
The sequel HIGHLAND QUEST will be released in July 2012.

Faced with an abhorrent betrothal, Cailin Macmillan flees her father’s castle and quickly learns that a woman traveling alone in Medieval Scotland is an easy target for ruthless English soldiers. When Highland patriot Connor Fraser comes to her aid, his steadfast dedication to king and country is challenged by his overwhelming desire to protect Cailin—even if he must marry her to do so.

Accused of murdering one of her attackers and determined to rely on her own resourcefulness, Cailin dresses as a lad, intent on seeking refuge at the camp of Robert the Bruce. Can she elude an enemy from her past—a vindictive English lord bent on her utter demise—or will she fall prey to his carnal intent and be executed for a crime she did not commit?
